Norway Shocks Brazil: World Cup Excitement and WNBA Updates

What a Weekend: The World Cup Delivered, and the WNBA Didn’t Disappoint

If you’re a sports fan like me, this weekend was one of those weekends where you barely wanted to leave the couch. Every time you thought the action couldn’t get any crazier, another game proved you wrong.

The biggest shock had to be Norway knocking Brazil out of the World Cup. I don’t think many people saw that coming. Brazil has always been one of those teams you expect to make a deep run, but that’s what makes the World Cup so special. One game can change everything. Erling Haaland came alive late and helped Norway pull off one of the biggest wins in their country’s history.

Then there was England and Mexico. That match had everything, big goals, momentum swings, and nonstop pressure. England survived 3-2, but Mexico made them earn every minute of it. Those are the kinds of games that remind us why knockout soccer is different. Every mistake matters, and every opportunity can change a nation’s dreams.

Over in the WNBA, the competition keeps getting better every week. The New York Liberty picked up a huge win over the Minnesota Lynx, while the Las Vegas Aces outlasted the Chicago Sky in an exciting overtime battle. The Golden State Valkyries continue to prove they’re not just an expansion team anymore after completing a season sweep of the Atlanta Dream.

Weekends like this remind me why I love sports. It’s not always about who is supposed to win. It’s about the unexpected moments, the underdogs who refuse to quit, and the athletes who rise when the pressure is highest.

That’s something we can all take into our own lives. Whether you’re chasing a championship, working toward a promotion, building your business, or simply trying to become a better version of yourself, success usually comes when you keep showing up, even when nobody expects you to.

That’s what Eric’s Corner is all about. Sports aren’t just games. They’re lessons in discipline, perseverance, and faith. Sometimes the biggest victories happen because someone refused to give up.
